REDS SA conducts video monitoring in selected locations in connection with the implementation of the research project entitled "Development of the MONITO system aimed at automating communication about hazards at railway-road crossings and increasing crossing safety."

Video monitoring is conducted for the purpose of implementing the MONITO research project, which aims to automate communication about hazards and increase safety in the areas covered by the project.
In particular, video monitoring may be used to:
As part of the video monitoring, personal data may be processed in the form of the image of persons present in the monitored area, as well as other information recorded in the footage if it allows a person to be identified.
The monitoring covers video only. Audio is not recorded.
The system may use automated image analysis to detect incidents and hazards, but it is not used to identify specific individuals or to make decisions concerning them that produce legal effects.
The legal basis for the processing of personal data is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, i.e. the legitimate interest of the controller.
The legitimate interest of the controller consists in implementing the research project, testing solutions aimed at improving safety, and documenting the operation of the system under real-world conditions.
Video recordings are stored for a period of 120 days and are then deleted or overwritten, unless further storage is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, the conduct of proceedings, or compliance with an obligation arising from applicable law.
Access to the recordings may be granted only to persons authorised by REDS SA.
Data may be disclosed to entities providing technical, IT, maintenance or project support services to REDS SA - only to the extent necessary and on the basis of appropriate agreements.
Recordings may also be disclosed to authorised authorities or entities where such disclosure is required by law.
Personal data processed as part of the video monitoring is not transferred outside the European Economic Area.

The exercise of these rights may be limited due to the specific nature of video monitoring, in particular where a recording also includes other persons or where identifying a specific person would require disproportionate effort.

When submitting a request, it is advisable to indicate as precisely as possible the date, time and place of the event to which the request relates. This will make it easier to locate the relevant recording, provided that it has not yet been deleted in accordance with the retention period.
